The Browning® 1911-380 Black Label® Pro Speed Semi-Auto Pistol is a scaled down version of the John M. Browning designed M1911. The 1911-380 is 85 percent the size of a 1911 Government Model, making it a more compact pistol for concealed carry, yet the grip is large enough to allow much greater shooting control than offered by smaller .380 ACP pistols. Similar to a full-size 1911, the Browning 1911-380 operates with a locked-breech recoil-operated system, which uses a much-lighter recoil spring than blowback-operated 380 pistols, making manual operation of the slide much easier. The 1911-380 Black Label Pro Speed is construct with a composite mainframe, with an ATACS-AU finish. The frame utilizes a fully machined 7075 aluminum sub-frame, which the slide rides on. Separate black composite grip panels are attached to the frame with 2 screws, each side.

The pistol features a beavertail grip safety with a checkered and raised memory bump. The flat mainspring housing and the front strap have non-aggressive checkering to provide a non-slip hold. An extended ambidextrous thumb safety is easy to reach and intuitive to operate with either hand. The slide is machine from stainless steel and features a matte black finish. Low-profile, steel, 3-dot combat sights minimize the risk of snagging when drawing the pistol and provide rapid sight acquisition.
